Hi Jeff, in Barcelona the pickpocketing is located in few places, like La Rambla, plaza de Cataluña, etc where the masses of tourists are, but as you mention is generally safe. What a trip!!! Thanks for sharing!!! ,cheers

Thanks Antonio. We go back to Barcelona for five days at the end of Sicily and I have firm plans on shooting the dance at the Cataluna plaza, so hopefully I'll be fine.

I always use a wrist strap, even at home! Against dropping but it would also help v thieves.

Enjoy Palermo! I just got back & I LOVED it. Pickpockets & phone thieves are sadly part of life in Italy. I have a phone necklace that 1. keeps me from dropping my phone in a canal 2. makes it harder to snatch from my hands. I once had my iphone4 pickpocketted from me on a crowded bus in London. Never felt a thing!

I made the mistake of falling asleep on a London bus once. When I got off the bus, I was a little lighter. Camera gone!

Never had a phone theft nor felt unsafe in Barcelona (my new favorite city) but this is sage advice. Particularly liked the headphones for maps idea as I definitely walked through the streets holding my phone! Safe travels and looking forward to the new episodes!
